CLOTHES AND EQUIPMENT’S TO PARK ON UGANDA SAFARI

Clothes and equipment’s to park on Uganda safaris

What to pack for a dry-season safari in Uganda

Uganda has a tropically warm temperature because it is located within the equator, which separates the two countries.

Bring the following clothing items with you when you travel to Uganda during the dry season, which runs from June to September and December to January:

A safari cap with a wide brim

You need a safari hat with a wide brim to protect yourself from the blazing sun during the dry season.

The wide-brimmed hat is useful for bird watching, fishing on Lake Victoria or Murchison Falls National Park, gorilla trekking, chimp tracking, and nature walks.

Clothing in neutral colour

Since national park trips are typically not colourful, neutral safari colours work well. Because they draw tsetse flies, colours like blue for shirts and tops are not allowed in savannah parks.

Although it is a dry season, remember to pack a jumper for your safari to Uganda because the mornings and evenings can get cold and you may need something to keep you warm. Things to wear on safari in Uganda: The jumper is useful when you have to leave early in the morning for safari activities like gorilla trekking safaris in Uganda, wildlife viewing or a nature walk, which may start so early when it's cold. Avoid wearing white clothing for nature walks because it could get very dusty.

A powerful insect repellent

Wearing bug repellent is essential because you are travelling to a tropical region, particularly the rainforest. Wear it, in my opinion, since you will need to do this to protect your skin from bites before entering the park.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses should be used to protect your eyes during the dry season because it can get very hot and dusty. For afternoon pursuits like game drives, nature walks, and tracking, sunglasses are practical.

What to pack for a Ugandan safari during the rainy season

Safari activities in Uganda continue during the rainy season despite the increasing rainfall. The rainy season, sometimes known as the low season, may actually be considerably less expensive if you choose to plan your vacation, particularly Uganda wildlife safaris.

Warm apparel

Wear heavy clothing, especially cotton, because the temperatures are low. These are going to keep you warm. Bring hand gloves and a scarf to keep your hands warm in addition to the bulky apparel.

A jumper and rain jacket

It is appropriate to bring a rain jacket because the events will go on regardless of the weather. In order to prevent being stranded during activities like gorilla trekking and chimp tracking, you will need a rain jacket as you go through the bush.

sturdy footwear

It may become slick during the wet season, making it difficult to go around in light sandals. Wearing supportive footwear will help you keep up with the movements.

Packing List for Uganda Safari: Items to Bring for Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla trekking safaris in Uganda, chimp tracking, and climbing on Mount Rwenzori and Elgon are examples of trekking activities. Since these activities require you to walk into the bush, your clothing choices should be carefully considered. The following attire is recommended for comfortable trekking safaris in Uganda:

Rain jacket/poncho

It is appropriate to bring a rain jacket because the events will go on regardless of the weather. In order to prevent being stranded during activities like gorilla trekking and chimp tracking, you will need a rain jacket as you go through the bush.

Strong hiking boots

It may become slick during the wet season, making it difficult to go around in light sandals. Wearing supportive footwear will help you keep up with the movements.

Make sure the shoes are comfy enough to go several meters whether gorilla trekking or hiking. To prevent disappointment on your safari, you can test the comfort of your hiking shoes by going on a one-day hike in your neighbourhood or running while wearing them.

Long shirts and pants

Remember to wear long shirts and trousers to protect your skin from bites. Put on shirts long enough to reach your hand gloves and pants long enough to tuck into your stockings. When wearing lengthy clothing, make sure it's comfortable by avoiding tight apparel.

Gloves for hands

You might slip while walking through the forest and need to hold on to a tree or plant tightly, but if you don't have gardening gloves or hand gloves, thorns could prickle your hands. To protect your hands, bring along a cosy pair of gloves.

Note: Avoid wearing anything like military attire if you intend to pack and wear it throughout your safari tour in Uganda. This is prohibited and might be interpreted as camouflage in several African nations.

As you organise your outfit, keep in mind that you will typically need a daypack with neutral colours to bring on your safari.

Essential safari tools and devices

The devices and gear listed below are essential for any safari in Rwanda and Uganda. Always make sure you have adequate protection if you are taking a laptop, smartphones, and tablets.

Camera and related equipment: Always have a camera with all of its accessories with you, along with a lens cleaner to keep the lens clean.

Sufficient Batteries: Keep a full set of rechargeable batteries and a high-quality charger in your car or vehicle's handy bag.

Binoculars: Depending on the activity you plan to engage in, such as game drive or bird watching, it is recommended that you bring a pair of binoculars.

Camera Memory Card: If you plan to take a lot of pictures in the jungle, it is advised to have extra memory cards for the cameras.

Journals: they can be used to record special moments spent in the locations you visit.

A flash lights. capture this with you so you can capture pictures even when it's dark, such on night-time game drives.

It is also advised to use electric items.
