History of Kalinzu forest
Kalinzu Forest reserve was established in 1932 by the British colonial masters with the target of protecting the biodiversity within. Numerous tree species were lost when the portion of the forest was cleared to make a way for Kyamuhunga and Igara Tea plantations. The Government took over the remaining portion in order preserve it and enforce to stop deforestation in the area. Currently, the National Forestry Authority in charge of overseeing the Kalinzu Forest Reserve.
