Day 1: Drive from Kampala to Jinja – Mbale
In the morning right after breakfast, you will drive to transfer to Jinja. The drive will take you 2 hrs. On arrival, you will go visit the source of the Nile and then go visit the Kings palace of Busoga. Learn more about the culture and norms of the Basoga people plus their reigning king. Later in the afternoon, you can drive to proceed to Mbale.
Day 2: Transfer to Teso Region.
In the morning you will transfer to Teso region to go visit, the Fishermen’s village and then later you will go visit the Nyero rock paintings. Continue your cultural exploration as you journey to the Teso Region. Delve into the unique customs and traditions of the Teso people, known for their vibrant cultural heritage. Engage with locals, learn about their way of life, and savor the warm hospitality extended to visitors.
Day 3: Transfer to Sipi falls
Early morning, meet your safari guide and embark on your journey to Sipi falls in Kapchwora district, it’s a 2 hours’ drive arriving in Kapchorwa district and connect to your booked accommodation for lunch. Later afternoon, connect to Sipi falls is located in the foothills of Mount Elgon just at the edge of Mount Elgon national park nearing the Kenya border and the falls consist of 3 waterfalls with the highest fall dropping at 100m. Depending on your ability, you can hike 2 of the waterfalls or hike all the 3 falls.
Day 3: Transfer to Moroto.
At 7am, you will depart Kampala to transfer to Moroto, the drive will take you 3 and half hours arriving in the afternoon. You will have lunch and then later go visit the Karamoja museum and Ateker Cultural center. Later, you will go for an evening Walk in Moroto. Venture into the rugged landscapes of Moroto, gateway to Karamoja. As you traverse the untamed terrain, marvel at the beauty of the Karamoja region and its fascinating culture. Arrive in Moroto and settle in for an authentic cultural experience.
Day 4: Tepeth tribe Hike.
Embark on an exhilarating hike up Mt. Moroto, accompanied by knowledgeable guides. At the summit, encounter the Tepeth tribe, a proud community with unique traditions and customs. Engage in cultural exchanges, gaining insights into their way of life amidst the breathtaking scenery.
Explore the rugged beauty of the Karamoja region on a cycling or motorbike tour. Wind your way through picturesque landscapes, passing by traditional homesteads and encountering friendly locals along the way. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and rhythms of Karamoja life. Later in the afternoon, you will enjoy a cultural village ceremony, before you embark to your journey to go experience the Traditional cattle camp. Camp at this ground.
Day 5: Climb Mount Morungole to visit the IK tribe
After breakfast, drive to the starting point of Mount Morungole located in the absolute northern hills of Karamoja. Here is where we find the smallest tribe of Uganda called the IK. The IK people lived in now days. The IK now live on Mount Morungole ridges as a community. Visiting the IK people gives visitors a rare insight into the unique tribe/culture in Africa. You will also enjoy the beautiful scenery, the higher the climb takes you, the more breath-taking the scenes in the valleys below and into the Eastern rift valley of Kenya and over to southern Sudan. After the hike, drive to check-in at Kaabong Resort hotel for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay
Day 4: Visit the Dodoth community – Transfer to Kotido and visit the Jie community
After breakfast, meet your guide and visit a Dodoth community. The Dodoth are the Karamojong group that settled in Kaabong area, they have a unique culture that is interesting to experience. Thereafter, transfer to Kotido which takes about 3-4 hours’ drive. Upon arrival in Kitodi, enjoy lunch then connect to visit the Jie community in Kotida. They also belong to the Karamoja tribe and they are known to be warriors.
Day 5: Visit the traditional cattle market (in case it’s open) – Transfer to Moroto (Overnight in a Kraal)
After your breakfast, connect to the visit the traditional cattle market. This market is where people can to buy and sell cattle and it only takes place on a Wednesday. So, plan your trip accordingly to enable you visit the cattle market. You will also visit the largest nomadic group in Africa who are located in Kotido district. You will participate in traditional games, daily activities as preparing staples foods, harvesting, beading, learning, dance, traditional friendly wrestling and know how to shoot using a bow and arrow.
Thereafter, transfer to Moroto. It’s about 3-4 hours’ drive with en-route lunch. Connect to a community and learn more about the Karamojong people who are the real pastoralists. Experience the typical Karamoja pastoral life by visiting a kraal with their shepherds. You will participate in bringing the cows to the Kraal, play games with the worries and tell stories and learn the monadic life of the Karamojong people. You will spend a night in a tent close to the kraal.
Day 6: Experience the life in a Karamojong village
After breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide to enjoy and experience the Karamojong culture by visiting one of the Karamojong communities. You will participate in traditional games, daily activities as preparing staples foods, harvesting, beading, learning, dance, traditional friendly wrestling and know how to shoot using a bow and arrow. These activities can be done for a whole day. Return for dinner and overnight stay at Kara-Tunga Karamoja Safari Camp
Before nightfall return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Sipi River Lodge/Lacum lodge/Casa Sipi falls lodge
Day 8: Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe
Wake up for the delicious breakfast very early, check-out of the hotel and set off for Kampala with end-route lunch in Jinja town and other several stops where you will need to stretch and refresh. This journey takes about 7-8 hours on road. You will be dropped at a location you will advise in Kampala/Entebbe or connect to Entebbe airport for your onward flight back home

Gorilla and chimp tracking permit
It is not possible to ‘reserve’ gorilla and chimpanzee permits. Therefore, we can only buy them after your booking and down-payment and also it all depends on availability.
Transport
Our standard offering for mid-range tours is a 4wd land cruiser with pop-up roof for easy safari viewing. All passengers will have a dedicated window seat. Your professional and courteous driver/guide will be at your disposal for questions or translations.

Please note the gorilla tracking in this itinerary can be done in Rwanda as well or in the other sectors on Bwindi or Mgahinga
Gorilla tracking is dependent on the permit’s availability at the time of your booking. Gorilla permits in all parks are on a very high demand and we advise that you book them as early as possible.
