LAKE NKURUBA RESERVE
Lake Nkuruba reserve is renowned for its volcanic crater lake and verdant forest environment. The lake is surrounded by the incredible breathtaking gorgeous kibale forest national park and Rwenzori Mountain ranges.

Within the naturally occurring woodland gem reserve lies a crater lake called Lake Nkuruba though the main issue here is deforestation, the location promotes wildlife breeding.
A variety of bird and primate species can be found in lake Nkuruba Nature reserve which is rich in biodiversity such as black and white colobus monkeys, endangered Uganda red colobus, the Great Blue Turaco and many others.

Lake Nkuruba
Lake Nkuruba is a volcanic crater lake that is a focal point of the reserve. The lake itself is a serene and lovely place where you can unwind, enjoy the view and even go for swimming. Lake Nkuruba is located just 25km south of the great town of Fort Portal in western Uganda situated in the stunning landscapes of Rwenzori mountains and Kibale National Park. And don’t forget that Lake Nkuruba has different species of birds recorded.
Bird watching
Lake Nkuruba reserve with its abundant birdlife, makes it a fantastic place for bird watchers to visit and spot different bird species such as the Great Blue Turaco and the black and white casqued Hornbill.
Observing primates
Lake Nkuruba reserve is a home to a variety of primates including the critically endangered Uganda red colobus, black and white colobus monkeys and can be found around lake Nkuruba. These primates are frequently seen by the visitors in their natural environment offering fantastic chances for wildlife photography.
Chimpanzee Trekking
Though there is no chimpanzee trekking in lake Nkuruba reserve, it is a hard starting point for those who want to walk with the primates in the neighboring kibale National Park which is well known for having large chimpanzee population.
