Our Vietnam itinerary 15 days began in Hanoi, where our guide, Alex, led us to the heart of the city, the old quarter of Hanoi, a place full of authenticity and tradition that we fully experienced while strolling through its narrow and ancestral streets. We explored every corner of the city, strolled around Hoan Kiem Lake, contemplated the bustling streets of Hanoi under the veil of night, and savored exquisite dishes along the pedestrian street… It was an authentically enchanting experience.
On the second day of our trip in Vietnam, we embarked on a captivating journey through Hanoi, delving into a wealth of cultural and historical landmarks. We explored revered treasures such as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Temple of Literature, and the Tran Quoc Pagoda, and immersed ourselves in Vietnam’s history at the Museum of Ethnology. As the day drew to a close, we had the opportunity to witness a mesmerizing water puppetry show, a quintessential Vietnamese art form that deeply resonated with our two children. It was a day full of enriching discoveries.
15 days in Vietnam is a journey that reveals an array of wonders. We began our third day by devoting two blissful days to the Mai Chau valley, a breathtaking natural expanse adorned with picturesque rice fields. This locale cast a spell on my parents, leaving them enamored. Our retreat to Mai Chau allowed us to submerge ourselves in the unrivaled splendor of nature—an experience that was truly enthralling.
Our stay was unforgettable not only because of the captivating landscapes but also because of the encounters with locals, whose enchanting warmth and genuine hospitality enveloped us, creating an invaluable sense of belonging and comfort akin to being at home. What an incredible experience it was! Moreover, we were privileged to witness captivating traditional dances and explore neighboring villages on bicycles, enriching our stay with profound cultural immersion. Mai Chau emerged as an exceptionally remarkable destination for us, weaving together an array of extraordinary moments.
Our knowledgeable tour guide and skilled driver accompanied us on the fourth day of our adventure travel in Vietnam, as we reached a mesmerizing locale often referred to as the “Ha Long Bay on land.” Upon arrival, we embarked on a serene rowing boat, traversing through a picturesque panorama of rice fields and meandering streams nestled amidst lush hills—a scene reminiscent of a forest perched atop a mountain in Tam Coc, Ninh Binh.
After this unforgettable journey, we continued our adventure with a captivating bike excursion through the verdant countryside and rolling hills that surrounded us. At each twist and turn along the path, nature unfurled its magnificent beauty, presenting panoramas that etched an indelible mark on our hearts, forever captivating our senses. The “Ha Long Bay on land” within Tam Coc, Ninh Binh, stands out as an unforgettable highlight of our 15-day journey in Vietnam.
The enchanting cruise along the majestic Halong Bay was one of the most highly anticipated moments of our Vietnam adventure tour. As we departed from the mainland’s embrace, we delved into the splendor of this maritime wonder, spending a captivating night aboard a cruise ship. This unforgettable voyage granted us the opportunity to unravel the mysteries within captivating caves, frolic amidst captivating marine life, and indulge in the purest delights that the sea generously bestows upon us!
While cruising, we seized the chance to immerse ourselves in the refreshing embrace of the bay’s waters, navigating the surrounding expanse by kayak. Yet, the moment that I cherished above all and that is eternally etched in my memory was the indulgence in sumptuous meals crafted from the freshest seafood imaginable, served aboard the vessel, delighting our taste buds.

Hue is a must-see city on a 15-day itinerary of Vietnam. On the seventh day of our journey, my family and I visited Hue, a renowned historical gem of Vietnam, due to my deep passion for history. Our fascination peaked as we wandered through the ancient Imperial Citadel, soaked in the tranquility of the Thien Mu Pagoda gracefully positioned along the serene banks of the Perfume River, and marveled at the opulent mausoleums of the emperors, seamlessly merging with the grandeur of the surrounding natural landscape.
We spent the end of the day submerged in the vibrant atmosphere of the bustling Dong Ba market, culminating our memorable day with a savored indulgence in Hue’s renowned cuisine. Every stride we took within Hue felt like a journey through time, unraveling Vietnam’s storied past and embracing its rich historical tapestry. This immersive experience proved profoundly enriching, etching itself into our memories as a truly remarkable and cherished adventure.
We left Hue and headed to Hoi An, an ancient city steeped in enigmatic allure, nestled graciously along Vietnam’s resplendent Central Coast. Within Hoi An’s embrace, meandering cobblestone pathways, resplendent with vibrant wooden abodes and adorned with timeless Japanese-style archways, beckon one to surrender to a realm brimming with revered temples, artisanal workshops, tantalizing culinary treasures, and authentic local cultural encounters.
Among the essential tourist landmarks, we visited the revered Guan Gong Temple, where we were captivated by its divine presence, as well as the intricate beauty of the Fujian Pagoda, the enchanting allure of the Japanese Bridge, and the ancient halls of Tan Ky House. Each visit left an indelible mark on our exploration of this remarkable city.
Without a doubt, our trip to the heart of the Mekong Delta will always be one of the most unforgettable experiences of our entire journey! From the hands-on experience of cutting and peeling coconuts to the tangible endeavor of crafting rice cakes, we found profound fulfillment in authentic activities that intricately connected us with the essence of the local culture.
Our experience extended far beyond these moments. We embarked on a cycling expedition through the scenic vistas of Ben Tre, Vietnam, serenaded by traditional melodies, which ignited a symphony of sensations within us. Pauses to savor honey-infused tea and freshly extracted coconut water unveiled the very essence of the surrounding nature’s flavors.
This sojourn into the depths of the Mekong Delta transcended mere tourism - it harmonized into an orchestration of authenticity. For those seeking a definitive itinerary for 15 days in Vietnam, this destination beckons as an immediate and irreplaceable inclusion!
Accompanied by our knowledgeable local guide, we visited Ho Chi Minh City, a dynamic metropolis teeming with life and a vibrant heart of Vietnam. We were privileged to unveil a tapestry of architectural marvels bearing witness to the French influence. Among these treasures stood the grand Palais de la Poste, a Notre-Dame cathedral fashioned from exquisite pink stone reminiscent of Toulouse, the graceful City Hall, the iconic Saigon Opera House, and a remarkable museum showcasing the finest arts.
Following a stroll through the lively streets of Cholon, Saigon’s Chinese district, and a visit to the Ben Thanh market to search for souvenirs, I had the opportunity to fully recharge my batteries with an invigorating massage. With precious travel souvenirs in tow, I flew to Montreal with a light heart.
Acquiring a basic understanding of Vietnamese can prove invaluable for your trip’s ease. Mastering essential phrases for seeking directions, bargaining prices, discussing quantities, and exchanging common greetings like “Xin chao” (hello) and “Cam on” (thank you) can significantly streamline your experience.
Crossing the streets in Vietnam, particularly in bustling urban centers like Hanoi and major cities, might appear daunting amidst a torrent of speeding motorbikes and cars. The key is to remain composed - signal your intention to cross by calmly raising your hand. Drivers are accustomed to this and will adjust their movement accordingly.
Utilizing both language skills and gestures when negotiating purchases can provide an approximate idea of prices. However, as a foreigner, initial prices quoted might be 5-10 times higher than usual. If dissatisfied, express your disagreement through facial expressions like frowning, shaking your head, and using hand gestures to negotiate.
Prioritizing essentials like sunscreen and insect repellent is advisable for your comfort and protection throughout your journey. These products can be indispensable in ensuring a comfortable and safe travel experience.
