One of the ways you can enjoy the capital city is by watching sports events in the surrounding areas. Uganda is a home of numerous sports from the popular sport football, volleyball, basketball, netball, tennis, cricket, futsal, rugby, swimming and many others. And the following are places or sports centers where you can watch the local sports;
Lugogo indoor stadium
Lugogo indoor stadium is the most central and popular sports center in the city and it hosts sports like volleyball, basketball, netball, badminton and boxing, mentioned but few. This stadium is always active with the above-mentioned sports especially Wednesday to Sunday.
Lugogo cricket oval
Lugogo cricket oval is the next indoor stadium where all the cricket action happens. The cricket games don’t happen as often as the sports in the indoor stadium but when they do you will surely enjoy time of yourself.
Lugogo hockey stadium
Lugogo hockey stadium is a hockey stadium where hockey lovers should visit for hockey game and aerobic sessions that happen at the grounds.
Lugogo Omondi stadium
Lugogo Omondi stadium is for football lovers, the Phillip Omondi stadium within the same locality will be the hit for you. The stadium is a home ground for KCCA, FC, NEC FC and Kampala Queens WFC. Here you will be sure that at any time of the week there is a game happening at these grounds.
You can also Wankulukulu stadium in central Kampala, Luzira football grounds, Kitende stadium and Kavuma recreational center. These grounds host local premier league and expect to find a match throughout the year round.
Legends.
Behind the Omondi stadium, there is the legends rugby club that is a home to rugby and American football. Though American football is not as popular as rugby, you will find more rugby games at the ground than American football and you can also watch rugby and American football at kings’ park in Bweyogere and Kyandondo rugby grounds and these they are more popular grounds than legends grounds.
For adrenaline lovers, you can also visit Busikka and Garuga for motorcross and rally races. These races are super amazing and have most crowds, they don’t happen often though but when they do and you are in attendance, you will enjoy and be amazed.
Note that the above mentioned grounds are within capital city Kampala but there are other grounds outside the capital city.
